Trigger points

Trigger points are sore, painful spots—also called knots—found in muscles. These knots are sensitive and can be an area of pain for you. When pressure is applied, it produces pain in a different part of your body. Each muscle group has their own referral pain pattern. Trigger points can be confused with a pinched nerve. Trigger points can also follow a fascia line, causing other muscle groups to experience dysfunction.

So, how do you get rid of trigger points?

A trigger point massage or using a ball helps work out those knots and reduce the pain associated with them. Applying pressure on the spot until you feel the nodule release. This could take anywhere from 10-30 seconds.

Dry needling is another option to help dissipate the tender spot

Movement. Moving the body part through stretching that is associated with the trigger point.

Lastly, get adjusted. Improving movement within the joints increases overall range of motion and reduces muscle pain and tension.
